INGREDIENTS
- 12 oz penne rigate pasta
- 1 lb. ground beef
- Botticelli Traditional Pasta Sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Additional shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In the same pot, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned. Add salt and pepper to taste. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Pour the traditional pasta sauce in and stir to combine well. Then combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce. Mix well to evenly coat the pasta.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
In a greased baking dish (about 9x13 inches), layer half of the pasta and meat sauce mixture. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the top.
Add the remaining pasta and then top with the rest of the cheese mixture.
Finish by sprinkling additional shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, serve and enjoy!
