Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Caprese Toast

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices of your favorite bread, French or Italian work well.
  • 4 tbsp. butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp. Botticelli Minced Garlic
  • Botticelli Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 4oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 4 Compari tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Botticelli Balsamic Glaze
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

 

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat your oven to 400F.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, add butter and minced garlic and mix well to combine.
  3. Using a small rubber spatula, spread the butter mixture over one side of each of the slices.
  4. Place the slices on a lined baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes or until the butter has melted and the edges of the bread have just started to turn golden.
  5. Remove from the oven and layer the mozzarella slices evenly over each slice of bread. Place back into the oven for another 5-10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  6. Remove from the oven and layer the slices of tomatoes, drizzle the basil extra virgin olive oil, balsamic glaze, a sprinkle of salt and pepper, and top off with a leaf of fresh basil. Slice in half, serve and enjoy!
